Deltasone 20

Presentation:Each tablet of Deltasone 20 contains 20 mg of prednisolone.Deltasone is available in blister packs or bottles containing a specific number of tablets.Please refer to the product packaging for exact details.

Indications:Deltasone (prednisolone) is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of a wide range of conditions due to its anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant effects.These conditions include certain endocrine disorders (e.g., adrenocortical insufficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia), rheumatic disorders (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis), collagen diseases (e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus), dermatologic diseases (e.g., pemphigus, severe psoriasis), allergic states (e.g., asthma, allergic rhinitis), ophthalmic diseases, respiratory diseases (e.g., symptomatic sarcoidosis), hematologic disorders (e.g., idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura), neoplastic diseases (palliative management of certain leukemias and lymphomas), edematous states (in nephrotic syndrome), gastrointestinal diseases (e.g., ulcerative colitis), and other miscellaneous conditions.

Dosage and Administration:The initial dosage of Deltasone 20 may vary from 5 to 60 mg per day depending on the specific disease being treated and its severity.Dosage should be individualized based on the patient's response. It is usually administered orally, preferably with food to minimize gastric irritation.After a satisfactory response is observed, the dosage should be gradually reduced to the lowest effective maintenance dose.The duration of treatment depends on the clinical condition. Follow your physician's instructions precisely.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, mood changes, insomnia, acne, and increased blood sugar levels. Long-term use can lead to more serious side effects such as osteoporosis, cataracts, glaucoma, increased risk of infections, adrenal suppression, and Cushing's syndrome.  

Precautions:Deltasone is contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to prednisolone or any of its components.Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart failure, peptic ulcer disease, osteoporosis, glaucoma, psychiatric disorders, and certain infections. Prolonged use may lead to adrenal insufficiency, requiring gradual withdrawal. Safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding should be carefully considered.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
