Delpark 1 Tablet

Generic Name: Trihexyphenidyl Hydrochloride

Strength: Available in 1 mg tablets.

Indications:

Delpark is used for the treatment of:

• All forms of parkinsonism (postencephalitic, arteriosclerotic, and idiopathic).
• Drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms.

Dosage and Administration:

Dosage should be individualized by a physician.

• Parkinsonism:
  • Initial dose is usually 1 mg on the first day.
  • The dose is then gradually increased by 2 mg increments at intervals of 3 to 5 days, until a total of 6 to 10 mg is given daily.
  • Some patients may require a total daily dose of 12 to 15 mg.
  • The total daily dose is usually administered in 3 or 4 divided doses.
• Drug-Induced Extrapyramidal Reactions:
  • Usual dose is 5 to 15 mg daily, usually given in divided doses.
  • In some cases, 1 mg may be sufficient.
• Delpark tablets can be taken with or without food.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride.
• Narrow-angle glaucoma.
• Myasthenia gravis.
• Gastrointestinal obstruction.
• Genitourinary obstruction (prostatic hypertrophy).

Side Effects:

• Common: Dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, nervousness.
• Less Common: Constipation, drowsiness, difficulty urinating, tachycardia.
• Rare: Confusion, agitation, hallucinations.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with hypertension, cardiac disease, liver or kidney disorders.
• May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.
• Avoid alcohol use.
• Use with caution in elderly patients who may be more susceptible to anticholinergic side effects.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and the potential benefits outweigh the risks.
• Lactation: It is not known whether trihexyphenidyl is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when administering to a nursing woman.

Storage:

• Store below 30°C.
• Protect from light and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children.
