Deflacort

Presentation: Tablets containing deflazacort in various strengths. 

Indications: Deflacort is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. These may include, but are not limited to, rheumatic disorders, allergic conditions, respiratory diseases (such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations), skin conditions, and certain kidney disorders. The specific conditions for which Deflacort is prescribed will be determined by your doctor.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Deflacort varies depending on the condition being treated, its severity, and the patient's response. It is administered orally. Your doctor will determine the appropriate starting dose and may adjust it over time. Follow your doctor's instructions precisely regarding the dose and duration of treatment. Do not stop taking Deflacort suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may lead to withdrawal symptoms.

Side Effects: Common side effects of Deflacort, as with other corticosteroids, may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, mood changes, insomnia, increased blood sugar levels, and increased blood pressure. Long-term use may lead to more serious side effects such as osteoporosis, muscle weakness, skin thinning, increased susceptibility to infections, cataracts, and glaucoma. Report any persistent or troublesome side effects to your doctor.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, especially diabetes, high blood pressure, heart problems, stomach ulcers, osteoporosis, infections (including tuberculosis or recent exposure to chickenpox or measles), glaucoma, cataracts, thyroid problems, or mental health disorders.
• Deflacort can suppress the immune system, increasing the risk of infections. Avoid contact with people who have contagious illnesses.
• Long-term use of corticosteroids can affect growth in children. Your child's growth should be monitored regularly by the doctor.
• Do not receive live vaccines while taking Deflacort without your doctor's approval.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, as Deflacort may have effects on the developing baby or breast milk.
• Be aware of potential drug interactions and inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements. 
• It is importantto carry a steroid warning card if you are on long-term treatment with Deflacort.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
