Coralvit-D 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (from coral source) and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol). Available strengths commonly include Calcium Carbonate 1250 mg (equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg) with Vitamin D3 200 IU. Pack sizes vary. Manufactured by White Horse Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Calcium Carbonate USP (from coral source) and Vitamin D3 USP (Cholecalciferol). The specific amount of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 will be mentioned on the product packaging.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency. Used in conditions such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, tetany, and hypoparathyroidism. Also used as a supplement in cases of inadequate calcium intake in childhood, rickets, pregnancy and lactation, and in elderly patients. Other indications may include pancreatitis and as a phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage & Administration: One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by a physician. Taking it with a full stomach ensures better absorption.

Side Effects: Orally administered Calcium Carbonate may be irritating to the gastrointestinal tract and may cause constipation. Hypercalcemia is rarely produced by administration of Calcium alone but may occur when large doses are given to patients with chronic renal failure.Other possible side effects include allergic reactions, irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, dry mouth, and drowsiness.

Precautions:Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hyperparathyroidism, hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis, severe renal insufficiency,and concomitant Digoxin therapy (requires careful monitoring of serum Calcium level). Caution should be exercised in patients with mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria and in elderly patients on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics.

Storage: Store at a temperature below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
