CoralMax-D 

Presentation: Tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (from Coral source) and Vitamin D3. Available in strengths of Calcium 500mg with Vitamin D3 200 IU, and Calcium 600mg with Vitamin D3 400 IU. Available in strips. Manufactured by Orion Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Calcium Carbonate USP (from Coral source) equivalent to elemental Calcium (500 mg or 600 mg as specified) and Vitamin D3 USP (200 IU or 400 IU as specified).

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, tetany, hypoparathyroidism, and disorders of osteogenesis. Also used as a supplement in case of inadequate intake of Calcium in childhood diet, rickets, pregnancyand lactation, and in elderly patients. Other indications include pancreatitis and as a phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage & Administration: One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by a physician. Taking it with a full stomach ensures better absorption.

Side Effects: Rare manifestations include flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, and upper gastrointestinal discomfort. Hypercalcaemia due to prolonged use has rarely been reported.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of the components, hypercalcaemia resulting from overdose of Vitamin D3, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, severe renal insufficiency, severe hypercalciuria, and renal calculi.Caution should be taken in patients with mild hypercalciuria, and monitoring of plasma and serum Calcium levels may be needed in mild to moderate renal impairment and during long-term use. Patients with a history of renal stones should also take precautions.

Storage: Store at a temperature below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
