Carticare Max: Dual-Action Support for Joint Health
Carticare Max is a prescription tablet indicated for the management of various bone and joint conditions, specifically osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and general bone and joint injuries.
How Carticare Max Works (Pharmacology)
Carticare Max combines two active ingredients,Glucosamine and Diacerein, which work together to support cartilage health, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain.
- Glucosamine: Glucosamine (2-amino-2-deoxy-alpha-D-glucose) is a natural amino sugar and a fundamental building block for the biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), such as Hyaluronic Acid, Keratan Sulfate, and Chondroitin Sulfate. GAGs bind with proteins to form proteoglycans, which are essential components of articular cartilage. In osteoarthritis, cartilage deteriorates. Supplementing with Glucosamine Sulfate increases the body's Glucosamine levels, facilitating the production and repair of cartilage. It also activates chondrocytes (cartilage cells) to produce more GAGs and proteoglycans. About 90% of orally administered glucosamine sulfate is absorbed, primarily metabolized by the liver, and excreted through urine.
- Diacerein: Diacerein is used for the treatment of osteoarthritis and also possesses analgesic (pain-relieving), antipyretic (fever-reducing), and anti-inflammatory activities. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of Interleukin-1 (IL-1), a key cytokine involved in cartilage destruction. Due to its specific mode of action, Diacerein has demonstrated disease-modifying effects in experimental models and in human subjects with finger joint and knee osteoarthritis. Its oral bioavailability is about 56%, and absorption is increased by approximately 25% when taken with food, making it best administered with meals. Diacerein is extensively metabolized (100%) in the liver, with urinary excretion of its metabolites ranging between 35% and 60%.
