Canazole Powder For Suspension - (50mg/5ml)

Presentation: Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension contains Fluconazole BP 50 mg. Available in bottles containing powder for reconstitution to [mention typical bottle size, e.g., 35 ml or 70 ml] suspension.  

Indications:Canazole (Fluconazole) is an antifungal medication used to treat infections caused by fungi, which can occur in various parts of the body. It is indicated for:  

• Systemic candidiasis.  
• Mucosal candidiasis including oropharyngeal, oesophageal, non-invasive bronchopulmonary infections, candiduria, mucocutaneousand chronic oral atrophic candidiasis (denture sore mouth).  
• Cryptococcal meningitis.
• Prevention of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients considered at risk as a consequence of neutropenia following cytotoxic chemotherapy or radiotherapy.  
• Genital candidiasis: acute or recurrent vaginal candidiasis; candidal balanitis.  
• Dermatomycoses: tinea pedis, tinea cruris, tinea corporis, tinea versicolor and dermal candidal infections.  
• Deep endemic mycoses including coccidioidomycosis, paracoccidioidomycosis, sporotrichosis and histoplasmosis in immunocompetent patients.  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Canazole depends on the type and severity of the fungal infection, as well as the patient's age and weight. Always follow your doctor's prescription. For systemic candidiasis, the usual dose in adults is 400 mg on the first day, followed by 200 mg once daily. For children, the daily dose is usually 3-12 mg/kg depending on the infection. For vaginal candidiasis, a single dose of 150 mg is usually effective (this formulation is a suspension for oral use, and the single dose tablet is a different presentation).The powder needs to be reconstituted with the specified amount of water as mentioned on the bottle label to create the suspension. Shake the suspension well before each use and administer orally. Can be taken with or without food.  

Pharmacology:Fluconazole is a synthetic broad-spectrum triazole antifungal agent.It works by inhibiting the fungal cytochrome P450 enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase.This inhibition disrupts the synthesis of ergosterol, a crucial component of fungal cell membranes, leading to increased permeability and leakage of cellular contents, thus inhibiting fungal growth.  

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Abdominal pain  
• Diarrhea  
• Rash

Less common side effects may include changes in liver function tests, jaundice, dizziness, and taste perversion. Severe allergic reactions are rare.

Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. Dosage adjustments may be necessary. Tell your doctor if you have any heart conditions, especially irregular heartbeats. Fluconazole can interact with several other medications. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking. Use with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
