Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Orotate Dihydrate equivalent to Calcium Orotate 400 mg. Available in strips. Manufactured by Drug International Ltd. in Bangladesh.
Ingredients: Calcium Orotate Dihydrate INN equivalent to Calcium Orotate 400 mg.
Indications: Used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels. May help with calcium deficiency in conditions like osteomalacia, drug-induced osteoporosis, rickets, latent tetany, and during pregnancy and lactation, postmenopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, juvenile osteoporosis, and hip joint conditions. Also used for various inflammatory diseases like arthritis and spondylitis, potentially beneficial in reducing mood swings and cognitive enhancement, and may protect the heart by enhancing cardiac muscle efficiency.
Dosage and Administration: Usually 2-3 tablets daily with meals, or as directed by a physician.
Side Effects: Common side effects include bloating and abdominal swelling. Infrequent side effects may include loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, nausea, vomiting, headache, and increased thirst or urination.
Precautions: Contraindicated in kidney stones, kidney disease, increased parathyroid gland activity, high calcium levels in urine or blood, and extreme dehydration. Precaution is needed in patients with allergies, reduced stomach acid, heart disease, pancreas disease, sarcoidosis, or malabsorption syndrome. May interact with bisphosphonates, quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin, and tiludronate disodium. Thiazide diuretics may increase the risk of hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria. Aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids and mineral oil may affect calcium absorption.
