Betanol 50

Presentation: Each tablet contains 50 mg Atenolol.

Indications: Management of hypertension, long-term management of angina pectoris, and management of hemodynamically stable patients with definite or suspected acute myocardial infarction to reduce cardiovascular mortality.

Dosage & Administration: For hypertension, initial dose is 50 mg once daily, may increase to 100 mg daily. For angina pectoris, initial dose is 50 mg once daily, may increase to 100-200 mg once daily. For acute myocardial infarction, intravenous followed by oral doses as directed by a physician. Follow doctor's instructions. May be taken with or without food.

Side Effects: Common: Bradycardia (slow heart rate), cold extremities, fatigue, dizziness. Less common: Hypotension, postural hypotension, nausea, diarrhea. Rare: Reversible mental depression, confusion, hallucinations.

Precautions: Inform doctor of bradycardia, heart block greater than first degree, cardiogenic shock, overt cardiac failure, asthma or COPD, diabetes, peripheral arterial circulatory disorders, or if pregnant or breastfeeding. May mask symptoms of hypoglycemia and hyperthyroidism. Avoid abrupt discontinuation.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
