Amofun (Amorolfine): A Topical Antifungal Cream
Amofun contains Amorolfine Hydrochloride, a broad-spectrum topical antifungal agent. It is indicated for the treatment of various fungal skin infections, including athlete's foot (tinea pedis), jock itch (tinea cruris), and ringworm (tinea corporis).
How Amofun Works (Pharmacology)
Amorolfine's mechanism is based on disrupting fungal cell membrane formation:
- Inhibits Fungal Enzymes: Amorolfine inhibits two key fungal enzymes, D14 reductase and D7-D8 isomerase.
- Disrupts Sterol Synthesis: This inhibition affects the fungal sterol synthesis pathway, leading to the depletion of ergosterol, a vital component of the fungal cell membrane. The disruption of the membrane's integrity kills the fungus.

Amofun is indicated for the treatment of:
- Tinea pedis (athlete's foot).
- Tinea cruris (jock itch).
- Tinea corporis (ringworm).
