Amodis Suspension - (200mg/5ml)
Presentation:
- Amodis is available as a 200 mg/5 ml suspension. Â Â
- It is available in 60 ml bottles. Â Â
Indications:
- Prevention of post-operative infections due to anaerobic bacteria. Â Â
- Treatment of septicaemia, bacteraemia, peritonitis, brain abscess, pelvic abscess, pelvic cellulitis, and post-operative wound infections caused by anaerobes. Â Â
- Urogenital trichomoniasis. Â Â
- Bacterial vaginosis. Â Â
- All forms of amoebiasis.
- Giardiasis.
- Acute ulcerative gingivitis. Â Â
- Anaerobically infected leg ulcers and pressure sores. Â Â
- Acute dental infectionsdue to anaerobic organisms. Â Â
- Antibiotic-associated pseudomembranous colitis. Â Â
Dosage & Administration:
- The dosage varies depending on the condition being treated and the age of the patient.
- Specific dosages for adults and children are provided for various conditions, including Trichomoniasis, Intestinal amoebiasis, Giardiasis, Acute ulcerative gingivitis, Bacterial Vaginosis, and Anaerobic infections (refer to a physician's prescription for exact details). Â Â
- IV Infusion:
- Adults and children over 12 years:Infuse 500 mg every 8 hours at a rate of 5 ml/minute. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 4 g. Â Â
- Children under 12 years: 7.5 mg/kg body weight every 8 hours at a rate of 5 ml/minute.
Side Effects:
- Metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, drowsiness, and rashes may occur during treatment. Â Â
Precautions:
- Exercise caution when administering Amodis to patients with hepatic encephalopathy.
- Patients should be informed that Amodis may darken urine. Â Â
Storage:
- Store below 30°C, protected from light.  Â
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date.
