Amisol Gold IV
Presentation: Sterile, aqueous solution containing amino acids (7%), glucose (10%), and electrolytes. Available in 500 ml glass bottles, manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.
Indications: As a source of amino acids, glucose, and electrolytes for intravenous nutrition in adult and pediatric patients. Particularly suitable for patients with basal amino acid requirements.
Dosage and Administration: Dosage is individualized based on the patient's condition, nutritional status, and metabolic stress.
Infusion should be slow and administered under medical supervision.
Side Effects: Nausea occurs rarely. Vomiting, flushing, and sweating may occur with infusion rates exceeding the maximum recommended rate. Transient increases in liver function tests have been reported. Hypersensitivity reactions and thrombophlebitis (with peripheral vein infusion) are possible. Hyperphenylalaninemia may occur in severely ill, premature infants.
Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with inborn errors of amino acid metabolism, severe liver dysfunction, severe uremia without dialysis, and hyperosmolar nonketotic diabetic coma (due to glucose content).
Use with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, severe heart failure, or renal impairment with fluid restriction or oliguria/anuria. Monitor serum potassium and blood glucose, especially with rapid or large infusions. May increase urinary excretion of copper and zinc, which should be considered during long-term use. In hyperglycemic patients, exogenous insulin may be needed. Use cautiously in severely malnourished patients due to the risk of refeeding syndrome and potential thiamine deficiency.
Storage: Protect from light and store below 25°C. Avoid freezing. Keep out of reach of children.
