Indications:Algin is an antispasmodic medication used for the symptomatic treatment of pain associated with functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system.It is also indicated for the treatment of spasm and pain in urological and gynecological diseases. These conditions may include:

• Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
• Biliary colic
• Enterocolitis
• Cholecystitis
• Mild cystitis
• Spasmodic dysmenorrhea

Pharmacology:Tiemonium Methylsulphate is a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine and histamine. It strengthens the calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins, inhibiting the intracellular contractile protein of visceral cells. This action reduces visceral spasm and pain.

Dosage and Administration: The usual dose for adults is 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls of syrup daily in divided doses. For children, the dosage is 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg of body weight daily in divided doses. For Algin 50ml Syrup (10mg/5ml), the equivalent dosage for children would be calculated based on their weight. For example, a child weighing 10 kg would require 30 ml of syrup daily, divided into doses as per the physician's instructions.
