Xytrex 5 Tablet

Strength: Available in 5 mg tablets.
Indications:
Xytrex is used to treat:
- Schizophrenia
- Acute manic or mixed episodes of bipolar I disorder
- Maintenance treatment of bipolar disorder (in combination with lithium or valproate for short-term treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes)
Dosage and Administration:
- Adults:
- Schizophrenia: Starting dose is usually 5-10 mg once daily. Dosage may be adjusted by your doctor within the range of 5-20 mg daily.
- Manic Episode: Starting dose is usually 15 mg once daily as monotherapy or 10 mg once daily in combination therapy. Dosage may be adjusted by your doctor within the range of 5-20 mg daily.
- Preventing Recurrence in Bipolar Disorder: Starting dose is usually 10 mg once daily.
- Can be taken with or without food.
- Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.
Contraindications:
- Known allergy to olanzapine or any ingredients in the product.
- Known risk for narrow-angle glaucoma.
Side Effects:
- Very Common: Sleepiness, weight gain, increased appetite, elevated glucose levels, elevated triglyceride levels.
- Common: Dizziness, akathisia (restlessness), Parkinsonism, dyskinesia (uncontrolled movements), orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure upon standing), constipation, dry mouth, asthenia (weakness), edema (swelling), photosensitivity reaction.
Precautions:
- Use with caution in patients with a history of seizures or conditions that might lower the seizure threshold.
- Use with caution in patients with low white blood cell counts.
- Use with caution in patients with liver problems.
- May cause drowsiness, so caution should be exercised when operating machinery or driving.
- Avoid alcohol.
- Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:
- Should be used in pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
- Patients taking Xytrex should be advised not to breast-feed.
Storage:
- Store below 30°C.
- Protect from light and moisture.
- Keep out of reach of children.
