This ointment is indicated to relieve the inflammatory and scaly symptoms of dry, hyperkeratotic, corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions, including:
Psoriasis (plaque and scalp psoriasis)
Chronic atopic dermatitis and eczema (including nummular and hand eczema)
Neurodermatitis (Lichen Simplex Chronicus) and Lichen planus
Ichthyosis vulgaris (fish scale disease) and related dry skin states
Seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp
Adults: Apply a thin layer to the affected areas twice daily, rubbing it in gently and completely. Once the condition is controlled, therapy should be discontinued.
Critical Usage Limits: Do not use this ointment for more than 2 consecutive weeks, and do not exceed a total amount of 50 grams per week. Going over these limits spikes the risk of systemic hormone suppression.
Dressing Restriction: Do not cover the treated area with an occlusive dressing (such as plastic wrap or airtight bandages). Occlusion severely amplifies drug absorption, increasing the risk of toxicity.
Children: Strictly not recommended for children and adolescents under 12 years of age.
Adrenal Suppression Risk: Widespread use over large areas can cause the body to absorb enough steroid to suppress the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Adrenal (HPA) axis, inducing hormonal imbalances (hypercortisolism/Cushing's syndrome).
Psoriasis Rebound Alert: If using this product for psoriasis, strict medical supervision is mandatory. Stopping the medication abruptly, or using it improperly, can trigger a severe rebound flare-up or cause the condition to morph into a dangerous, generalized pustular form of psoriasis.
Eye & Broken Skin Care: Keep completely away from the eyes and eyelids to avoid glaucoma or cataract risks. Do not apply to open wounds, raw wounds, or deeply broken skin.
Salicylate Toxicity: Applying this formulation across massive areas of the body can lead to systemic salicylate (aspirin-like) poisoning. Watch out for symptoms such as tinnitus (ringing in the ears), dizziness, or hearing loss. If these occur, stop using the product immediately.
This preparation is strictly contraindicated in:
Known hypersensitivity to clobetasol, salicylates, or any vehicle ingredients.
Primary skin infections caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses (such as herpes simplex, chickenpox, or shingles) unless a targeted anti-infective treatment is used alongside it.
Tuberculous skin lesions.
Infants under 1 year of age (including general dermatitis and diaper rash).
Pregnancy: High-potency topical steroids have shown fetal development abnormalities in animal models. Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefits cleanly outweigh the risks, and never use in large amounts or for prolonged periods.
Lactation: Safety has not been definitively established. Use with extreme caution, and ensure the ointment is never applied anywhere near the breasts to prevent accidental ingestion by a nursing infant.
Store in a cool, dry place, safely protected from direct light. Keep tightly capped and out of the reach of children.
