Vilazon 20 Tablet

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains Vilazodone Hydrochloride USP equivalent to Vilazodone 20 mg. 

Indications: Vilazon is indicated for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in adults.

Dosage and Administration:The recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily. The dose should be increased to 20 mg once daily after one week. Based on clinical judgment and tolerability, the dose may be further increased to a maximum of 40 mg once daily. Vilazon should be taken with food. 

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Insomnia
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth
• Fatigue

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. It's important to discuss any unusual symptoms with your doctor.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with a history of mania or hypomania, seizure disorders, hepatic or renal impairment, and cardiovascular disease.
• May increase the risk of suicidal thoughts and behavior in children, adolescents, and young adults, especially during the initial months of treatment and when the dosage is changed.
• Serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition, may occur when Vilazon is used with other serotonergic drugs.
• Avoid abrupt discontinuation of Vilazon to prevent withdrawal symptoms. Dosage should be gradually reduced under medical supervision.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your doctor.

Contraindications: Vilazon is contraindicated in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to vilazodone hydrochloride or any of the excipients.
• Concomitant use with nonselective, irreversible monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing an MAOI.
• Concomitant use with linezolid or intravenous methylene blue.

Drug Interactions: Vilazon can interact with other medications, including:

• MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors)
• Other SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and SNRIs (serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors)
• Triptans
• Lithium
• Tramadol
• Drugs that affect serotonin neurotransmission
• Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (may increase vilazodone exposure)
• Strong CYP3A4 inducers (may decrease vilazodone exposure)

Inform your doctor about all the medications you are currently taking.
