Thenxet Tablet - (500mcg+10mg)

Generic Name: Flupentixol + Melitracen

Strength: Each tablet contains Flupentixol INN 0.5 mg and Melitracen INN 10 mg.

Indications:

Thenxet is indicated for the treatment of:

• Anxiety 
• Depression 
• Apathy 
• Psychogenic depression 
• Depressive neuroses 
• Masked depression 
• Psychosomatic affections accompanied by anxiety and apathy 
• Menopausal depressions 
• Dysphoria and depression in alcoholics¹and drug addicts

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: Usually 2 tablets orally daily, in the morning and at noon. In severe cases, the morning dose may be increased to 2 tablets. 
• Elderly patients:1 tablet in the morning. 
• Maintenance dose:Usually 1 tablet²orally in the morning. 
• In cases of insomnia or severe restlessness, additional treatment with a sedative in the acute phase is recommended.³  

Contraindications:

• The immediate recovery phase after myocardial infarction. 
• Defects in bundle-branch conduction. 
• Untreated narrow-angle glaucoma. 
• Acute alcohol, barbiturate and opiate intoxications. 
• Should⁴not be given to patients who have received a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within two weeks.
• Not recommended for excitable or overactive patients.

Side Effects:

Side effects are uncommon at the recommended dosage. These could be transient restlessness and insomnia.

Precautions:

• If the patient has previously been treated with tranquillizers with sedative effect, these should be withdrawn gradually.
• Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration as Thenxet can cause dizziness and sleepiness.
• Avoid drinking alcohol while taking Thenxet as it can make drowsiness worse.
• Inform your doctor if you have liver disease, thyroid disorder, severe heart disease, or a urinary disorder. 
• Talk to your doctor if you notice sudden mood changes or develop suicidal thoughts. 
• Let your doctor know you are taking Thenxet⁵before undergoing any surgical procedure.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:

Thenxet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor. Information regarding the use of Thenxet during breastfeeding is not available. Please consult your doctor.

Storage:

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.
