Spotex Cream Overview

Indications

• 0.1% Cream: Treats acne vulgaris, pregnancy-related abdominal stretch marks (striae), mottled hyperpigmentation, photo-damaged skin, flat warts, and conditions like ichthyosis vulgaris and keratosis follicularis.

• 0.025% Cream: Primarily used for mild-to-moderate acne vulgaris characterized by comedones (blackheads/whiteheads), papules, and pustules.

How It Works (Pharmacology)

Tretinoin works by reducing the stickiness of follicular cells to prevent new microcomedones from forming. It speeds up cell turnover, pushing out existing acne lesions (comedones, papules, pustules).

Dosage & Application

1. Application: Clean and dry the area thoroughly. Apply a thin layer to the affected skin 1–2 times daily (or as directed by a doctor).

2. Timeline: Results typically take 6 to 8 weeks to become visible.

3. Cosmetics & Moisturizers: Can be used, but do not apply at the exact same time as Spotex. Avoid harsh or astringent products.

Key Safety Precautions

• Interactions: Use caution when combining with other topical treatments, especially peeling agents like Benzoyl Peroxide. Consider alternating them (e.g., Benzoyl Peroxide in the morning, Spotex at night).

• Contraindications: Do not use if you are allergic to any ingredient or have a personal/family history of skin cancer (cutaneous epithelioma).

• Pregnancy & Lactation: Contraindicated. Systemic tretinoin is teratogenic, and safety during human pregnancy or breastfeeding is not established.

• Side Effects: Temporary burning, mild irritation, redness (erythema), or peeling may occur. Discontinue and consult a doctor if severe.

• Sensitive Areas: Avoid eyes, lips, mouth, nostrils, or broken/sunburned skin. Flush thoroughly with water if contact occurs.
