Sperid 1

Presentation: Each tablet contains 1 mg Risperidone. 

Indications: Treatment of acute and chronic psychoses, including schizophrenia. Also used to treat manic episodes in bipolar disorder.

Dosage & Administration: For psychoses, the usual starting dose for adults is 2 mg on the first day, either as a single dose or divided into two doses. This is often increased to 4 mg on the second day. The usual dose range is 4-6 mg daily. Your doctor may adjust the dose as needed, up to a maximum of 16 mg per day. For mania, the starting dose is usually 2 mg once daily, which may be increased. In elderly patients or those with liver or kidney problems, a lower starting dose of 1 mg daily in two divided doses is recommended. Follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: Common side effects include trouble sleeping, agitation, anxiety, headache. Less common side effects may include drowsiness, difficulty concentrating, fatigue, blurred vision, constipation, feeling sick, vomiting, indigestion, abdominal pain, increased prolactin levels, urinary incontinence, fast heartbeat, high blood pressure, swelling, rash, and stuffy nose.

Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have a known allergy to risperidone. Use with caution if you have heart problems, kidney or liver disease, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. May interact with other medications. Avoid alcohol. May cause dizziness and drowsiness.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
