Rasagil 1 Tablet contains 1 mg of Rasagiline.

Indications: Rasagil is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of idiopathic Parkinson's disease as initial monotherapy or as adjunct therapy to dopamine agonists or levodopa.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is 1 mg orally once daily as monotherapy or as adjunct therapy in patients not taking levodopa.

In patients taking levodopa, the recommended initial dose is 0.5 mg once daily. If tolerated and a sufficient response is not achieved, the dose may be increased to 1 mg once daily. 

Rasagil can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Joint pain
• Headache
• Indigestion
• Flu-like symptoms
• Depression
• Cough
• Peripheral edema (swelling in the extremities)
• Dizziness
• Spinning sensation
• Insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
• Nausea
• Muscle pain

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. It is important to inform your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms.

Precautions:

• Tell your doctor if you have any liver problems.
• Speak to your doctor about any suspicious skin changes. Rasagiline may increase the risk of skin cancer.
• Inform your doctor if you are taking buprenorphine-containing medicinal products.
• Be aware of potential impulse control disorders (compulsions, obsessive thoughts, addictive gambling, excessive spending, impulsive behavior, abnormally high sex drive).
• Rasagiline may cause drowsiness and sudden sleep onset. Exercise caution while driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid consuming tyramine-rich foods (aged cheeses, cured meats, fermented foods) and certain amines (found in some over-the-counter cold medicines) as they can cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure.

Contraindications: Rasagil is contraindicated for use with:

• Meperidine, tramadol, methadone, propoxyphene.
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including other selective MAO-B inhibitors. At least 14 days must elapse between discontinuation of rasagiline and initiation of treatment with MAO inhibitors or pethidine.
• Severe hepatic impairment.  

Drug Interactions: Rasagiline can interact with various medications. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements.  

Pregnancy and Lactation: Rasagiline should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Caution should be exercised when administering Rasagiline to a breastfeeding mother. 

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
