Qutap 25 Tablet contains 25 mg of Quetiapine Fumarate equivalent to 25 mg of Quetiapine. 
It is manufactured by Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Indications: Qutap is indicated for the treatment of: 

Schizophrenia Manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder Depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder  

Maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder in combination with mood stabilizers

Pharmacology: Quetiapine is an atypical antipsychotic agent that acts as an antagonist at multiple neurotransmitter receptors in the brain, including serotonin (5-HT1A and 5-HT2), dopamine (D1 and D2), histamine (H1), and adrenergic (α1 and α2) receptors.  

Dosage and Administration: Qutap should be administered twice daily, with or without food. The dosage is individualized and determined by the physician based on the condition being treated and the patient's response. Some general guidelines:

• Schizophrenia: The total daily dose for the first 4 days is 50 mg (Day 1), 100 mg (Day 2), 200 mg (Day 3), and 300 mg (Day 4). From Day 4 onwards, the dose is usually titrated to the effective range of 300 to 450 mg/day, which may be adjusted between 150 to 750 mg/day.
• Manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder: The total daily dose for the first four days is 100 mg (Day 1), 200 mg (Day 2), 300 mg (Day 3), and 400 mg (Day 4). Further dosage adjustments up to 800 mg/day by Day 6 should be in increments of no greater than 200 mg per day. The dose may be adjusted within the range of 200 to 800 mg per day.  
• Depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder: The usual dose is 300 mg once daily at bedtime. The daily dose for the first four days is 50 mg (Day 1), 100 mg (Day 2), 200 mg (Day 3), and 300 mg (Day 4), and can be titrated up to 600 mg by Day 8.

Side Effects: The most commonly reported adverse drug reactions with Qutap are:

• Somnolence (drowsiness)
• Dizziness
• Dry mouth
• Withdrawal (discontinuation) symptoms
• Elevations in serum triglyceride and total cholesterol levels
• Decreases in HDL cholesterol
• Weight gain
• Decreased haemoglobin

Precautions:

• Qutap may induce orthostatic hypotension, especially during the initial dose-titration period, and caution should be exercised, particularly in the elderly.
• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease, conditions predisposing to hypotension, history of seizures, hepatic impairment, or a history of suicidal thoughts.
• Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Qutap as it may increase drowsiness.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Contraindications: Qutap is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to quetiapine or any of the excipients in the formulation.

Drug Interactions: Caution should be exercised when Qutap is used concomitantly with medicines known to cause electrolyte imbalance or to increase the QT interval. Co-administration with strong CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., carbamazepine, phenytoin, rifampicin) may decrease quetiapine plasma concentrations.  

Storage: Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
