Generic Name: Quetiapine Fumarate

Strength: Available in 200 mg extended-release tablets.

Indications:

• Schizophrenia: For the treatment of schizophrenia.
• Bipolar Disorder:
  • Treatment of manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder. 
  • Treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar disorder. 
  • Maintenance treatment of bipolar I disorder in combination with mood stabilizers.
• Major Depressive Disorder (MDD): As adjunctive treatment to antidepressant therapy for major depressive disorder in adults.

Dosage & Administration:

• Dosage should be individualized by a physician.
• Queta XR tablets are taken orally once daily.
• Swallow the tablet whole; do not chew, crush, or split it.
• Take without food or with a light meal.
• The starting dose and titration schedule vary depending on the condition being treated.
• Refer to the product leaflet or your doctor's instructions for specific dosage guidelines.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to quetiapine or any of the excipients.

Side Effects:

• Common: Somnolence, dizziness, dry mouth, weight gain, increased appetite.
• Less Common: Orthostatic hypotension, tachycardia, constipation, dyspepsia, weakness, peripheral edema, blurred vision.
• Serious: Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS), tardive dyskinesia, metabolic changes (hyperglycemia, hyperlipidemia), QT prolongation, suicidal thoughts or behavior.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, conditions predisposing to hypotension, history of seizures, hepatic impairment, or risk factors for diabetes mellitus.
• May cause somnolence and impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
• Avoid alcohol use.
• Monitor for signs of metabolic changes, tardive dyskinesia, and NMS.
• Use with caution during pregnancy and lactation; discuss potential risks and benefits with your doctor.
• Gradual withdrawal is recommended when discontinuing quetiapine.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
• Lactation: Quetiapine is excreted in human milk. Breastfeeding is not recommended during therapy.

Storage:

• Store below 30°C.
• Protect from light and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children.
