Precodil 15 (50ml) 

Presentation: Precodil 15 is an oral solution containing Prednisolone at a concentration of 15mg per 5ml. It is typically supplied in a 50ml bottle.

Indications: Precodil (prednisolone) is a corticosteroid indicated for a wide range of inflammatory and allergic conditions. These include respiratory disorders like asthma, allergic disorders such as severe allergic reactions and rhinitis, rheumatic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, skin diseases including severe dermatitis, endocrine disorders such as adrenal insufficiency, hematologic disorders, gastrointestinal diseases like ulcerative colitis, certain kidney problems (nephrotic syndrome), and eye conditions involving inflammation.  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Precodil 15 oral solution is individualized based on the condition being treated and the patient's response.  

• Adults: The initial dosage can vary from 5 to 60 mg per day, administered orally as a single dose or in divided doses. Maintenance doses are typically lower and adjusted based on the patient's clinical response.  
• Children: Dosage is determined by the severity of the condition and the child's weight, typically ranging from 0.05 to 2 mg/kg per day, given in one to four doses.
• The solution should be accurately measured using the provided device. It can be taken with or without food. Gradual withdrawal is necessary after prolonged use to avoid withdrawal symptoms. Follow your doctor's specific instructions.

Side Effects: Common side effects of prednisolone may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, mood changes, difficulty sleeping, increased blood pressure, acne, increased hair growth, thinning skin, easy bruising, impaired wound healing, and increased susceptibility to infections. Less frequent but potentially serious side effects include osteoporosis, muscle weakness, cataracts, glaucoma, increased blood sugar levels, and adrenal suppression.  

Precautions: Precodil (prednisolone) is contraindicated in patients with systemic fungal infections and known hypersensitivity to prednisolone or its components. Caution is advised in patients with diabetes mellitus, hypertension, heart failure, peptic ulcer disease, osteoporosis, psychiatric disorders, active infections, glaucoma, liver or kidney disease, and hypothyroidism. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be carefully considered. Live virus vaccines should generally not be administered to patients on immunosuppressive doses of corticosteroids.

Storage: Store Precodil 15 oral solution below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not freeze.
