Oxigel Wash contains Benzoyl Peroxide, a powerful topical medication for acne. When applied to the skin, its peroxide bond splits to form free radicals that disrupt bacterial proteins, directly killing Cutibacterium acnes (the bacteria responsible for acne flares).
Additionally, it increases skin cell turnover, helps reduce sebum (oil) and keratin buildup inside pores, and actively breaks down comedones (blackheads and whiteheads).
Oxigel Wash is indicated for the topical treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris. It can be safely used alongside other prescription acne treatments, such as topical retinoids (retinoic acid), oral or topical antibiotics, and salicylic acid/sulfur preparations.
Initial Schedule (Week 1): Wash the affected areas once a day to allow your skin to adapt.
Maintenance Schedule (Week 2 onwards): Increase to twice a day (morning and evening) if your skin tolerates it well.
How to Apply: Shake the bottle well. Wet the skin, apply the wash, work it into a full lather, and massage gently. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat dry. Close the cap tightly after use.
Age Limit: Safety and efficacy have not been established for children under 12 years old.
👕 Bleaching Alert: Benzoyl peroxide is a potent bleaching agent. Avoid letting the wash or damp, treated skin come into contact with hair or colored fabrics (towels, clothing, pillowcases, and bedsheets), as it will cause permanent discoloration or bleaching.
Sensitive Areas: For external use only. Keep entirely away from the eyes, eyelids, lips, and delicate mucous membranes. If accidental contact occurs, flush thoroughly with water.
Sun Sensitivity: This medication can make your skin more sensitive to UV rays. Avoid unnecessary sun exposure and apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily. It is also recommended to use oil-free makeup.
Contraindications: Do not use if you have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to benzoyl peroxide.
Side Effects: Mild dryness, skin peeling, and temporary redness are common. However, if you experience severe redness (erythema), excessive scaling, burning, or swelling (edema), discontinue use immediately.
Tip: You can apply cool compresses to soothe severe local skin irritation. Once the skin clears, you may resume at a reduced frequency if it wasn't a true allergic reaction.
Concurrent Topicals: Avoid using other harsh, drying, or highly irritating skin products at the exact same time as this wash unless directed by your doctor.
Pregnancy (Category C): There are no adequate human or animal reproductive studies. It should only be used by pregnant women if clearly needed.
Lactation: It is unknown if benzoyl peroxide is excreted in human breast milk. Use with caution and consult your physician if you are breastfeeding.
Store in a cool, dry place, safely protected from direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
