Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Calcium Orotate Dihydrate INN equivalent to Calcium Orotate 400 mg. Available in strips. Manufactured by Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical Industry PLC in Bangladesh.
Ingredients: Calcium Orotate Dihydrate INN equivalent to Calcium Orotate 400 mg.
Indications: Used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels, especially in individuals with insufficient dietary calcium intake. May be used to fulfill calcium deficiency or meet increased calcium needs in conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, latent tetany, postmenopausal osteoporosis, senile osteoporosis, juvenile osteoporosis, and drug-induced osteoporosis. Also indicated for various inflammatory diseases (arthritis, spondylitis, multiple sclerosis), potential weight management by suppressing appetite, reducing mood swings, cognitive enhancement, and protecting heart health. May also minimize the risk of colon cancer.
Dosage and Administration: Adults: Usually 2-3 tablets daily with meals, or as directed by a physician.
Side Effects: Common: bloating and abdominal swelling. Infrequent: loss of appetite, upset stomach, constipation, nausea, vomiting, unusual weight loss, increased thirst/urination, weakness, unusual tiredness, and the formation of kidney stones.
Precautions: Contraindicated in conditions like kidney stones, kidney disease, increased parathyroid gland activity, high calcium levels in urine or blood, and severe dehydration. May interact with bisphosphonates, quinolone and tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin, and tiludronate disodium. Thiazide diuretics may increase the risk of hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria. Aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids may increase urinary calcium excretion. Mineral oil and stimulant laxatives may decrease calcium absorption. Glucocorticoids, oral contraceptives, and estrogen compounds may reduce calcium levels. Anti-inflammatories like NSAIDs and aspirin may deplete calcium. Precaution is needed in patients with allergies to calcium orotate, kidney disease, kidney stones, low stomach acid, pancreatic disease, sarcoidosis, or malabsorption syndrome.
Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Store below 30°C.
