Indications

Pain Management: Provides effective relief for headaches, migraines, toothaches, musculoskeletal pain, post-operative or postpartum pain, period pain, and pediatric post-vaccination discomfort.

Fever Control: Reduces fever associated with influenza, common cold, post-surgical pyrexia, and fever of unknown origin.

Mechanism of Action

COX Inhibition: Blocks central COX enzymes in the central nervous system to reduce pain signaling.

Hypothalamic Modulation: Resets the body's thermostat in the brain to promote heat dissipation. It does not provide peripheral anti-inflammatory action.

Dosing Guidelines

Standard Tablets: 500 to 1000 mg every 4 to 6 hours for adults, maximum 4000 mg daily.

Extended Release: 1000 mg every 6 to 8 hours for ages over 12, maximum 3000 mg daily.

Syrup (120mg/5mL): 5 to 10 mL every 4 to 6 hours for children aged 1 to 5 years, maximum 5 doses daily.

Safety Rules: Maintain a minimum 4-hour interval between doses. Use weight-based dosing for pediatric patients.

Safety and Contraindications

Contraindications: Do not use in cases of severe hepatic impairment or hypersensitivity.

High-Risk Groups: Chronic alcoholics should not exceed 2000 mg daily. Exercise caution in malnourished patients and those with severe renal impairment.

Drug Interactions: Avoid alcohol completely due to increased liver toxicity. Monitor interaction risks with warfarin, enzyme inducers, and cholestyramine.

Overdose and Precautions

Overdose Protocol: Overdose leads to hepatotoxicity and liver failure. Treat urgently with activated charcoal and acetylcysteine regimens.

Patient Precautions: Do not combine with other paracetamol products or crush extended-release tablets. Consult a registered physician, and seek immediate medical help if symptoms persist or jaundice occurs.
