Migrium 10

Description

Migrium 10 contains flunarizine dihydrochloride. It is available in tablet form.

Indications

Migrium 10 is indicated for:

• Prophylaxis of migraine.

• Symptomatic treatment of vestibular vertigo.

Dosage & Administration

• Adults: The usual starting dose is 10 mg daily, taken at night.

• The maintenance dose is 5-10 mg daily.

The dosage may be adjusted by the physician depending on the patient's response and tolerance.

Migrium 10 should be taken orally.

Contraindications

Migrium 10 is contraindicated in patients with:

• Known hypersensitivity to flunarizine dihydrochloride.

• Depression.

• Pre-existing extrapyramidal symptoms (such as Parkinsonism).

Precautions & Warnings

• Depression: Flunarizine may increase the risk of depression. Patients with a history of depression should be monitored closely.

• Extrapyramidal Symptoms: Flunarizine may cause extrapyramidal symptoms, such as Parkinsonism, akathisia, and tardive dyskinesia, especially in elderly patients. Caution should be exercised in patients with a history of movement disorders.

• Hepatic Impairment: Dose adjustments may be necessary in patients with hepatic impairment.

• Drowsiness: Flunarizine may cause drowsiness, particularly at the start of treatment. Patients should be advised not to drive or operate machinery if affected.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Migrium 10 include:

• Drowsiness

• Weight gain

• Dizziness

• Headache

Less common side effects include:

• Depression

• Extrapyramidal symptoms (such as Parkinsonism)

• Fatigue

• Nausea

• Dry mouth

Drug Interactions

• Alcohol: Concomitant use with alcohol may increase the sedative effects of flunarizine.

• Other CNS Depressants: Flunarizine may enhance the effects of other central nervous system depressants, such as benzodiazepines and hypnotics.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation

• Pregnancy: Flunarizine should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

• Lactation: It is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

Storage

Store in a cool and dry place, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
