Maxgen-Tx 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets containing Glucosamine Sulfate BP equivalent to Glucosamine Sulfate 500 mg and Chondroitin Sulfate Sodium BP equivalent to Chondroitin Sulfate 400 mg. Available in strips of 10 tablets, manufactured by Modern Drug (Herbal) in Bangladesh.

Indications: Maxgen-Tx is indicated for the relief of symptoms in mild to moderate osteoarthritis of the knee. It may help to reduce joint pain and stiffness, and improve joint function.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dosage is one tablet three times daily, preferably with or after meals. Alternatively, some physicians may recommend two tablets twice daily. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water. The duration of treatment should be as recommended by a physician, and long-term use may be necessary for sustained benefit.

Side Effects: Generally, Maxgen-Tx is well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience mild and transient side effects such as:

• Gastrointestinal disturbances (e.g., nausea, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, abdominal pain).
• Headache
• Drowsiness
• Skin rash or itching (rare)

If any of these side effects persist or worsen, patients should consult their doctor.

Precautions:

• Maxgen-Tx is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to glucosamine, chondroitin, or any other components of the formulation.
• Caution should be exercised in patients with asthma, as glucosamine has been reported to worsen asthma symptoms in some individuals.
• While studies suggest glucosamine does not significantly affect blood sugar levels, patients with diabetes mellitus should monitor their blood glucose closely when starting and during treatment.
• Use with caution in patients with known allergies, especially to shellfish, as some sources of glucosamine are derived from shellfish.
• The safety of Maxgen-Tx during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. It is advisable to consult a healthcare professional before use in these conditions.
• Keep out of reach of children.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Do not store above 30°C.
