💊 Ketozol (Ketoconazole)

Ketozol is a versatile antifungal medication available in multiple forms to treat infections caused by yeast and fungi. It works by disrupting the fungal cell membrane.

📋 Indications & Usage

• Shampoo: Used for dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and tinea versicolor (white/dark patches on the skin).

• Cream: Treats Athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and sweat rashes.

• Tablet: Reserved for deep or systemic infections, or when topical treatments fail (e.g., nail or persistent vaginal infections).

• Medicated Bar: Designed for general body fungus.

🥄 Dosage & Administration

• Shampoo: Wet hair, apply, lather, and leave for 5 minutes before rinsing.

  • Dandruff: Use twice weekly for 2–4 weeks.

• Cream: Apply to the affected area once or twice daily. Continue for a few days after symptoms vanish to prevent relapse.

• Tablet: Usually 200 mg (1 tablet) daily with food. For vaginal candidiasis, 1 tablet twice daily for 5 days.

  • ⚠️ Warning: Do not take antacids or PPIs (e.g., Omeprazole) at the same time, as they stop the tablet from being absorbed.

⚠️ Safety & Side Effects

• Topical (Shampoo/Cream): Generally well-tolerated. May cause mild burning, itching, or oily/dry hair.

• Oral (Tablets): Can cause nausea, headache, or stomach pain.

• 🛑 Liver Health: Oral Ketozol can affect the liver. Stop immediately if you notice jaundice (yellow eyes/skin), dark urine, or pale stools.

• Steroid Transition: If you’ve been using a steroid cream/lotion, wait 2 weeks before starting Ketozol to avoid skin irritation.

• Shampoo/Cream: Safe to use as it is not absorbed into the bloodstream.

• Tablets: Avoid during breastfeeding as the drug passes into milk. Use in pregnancy only if prescribed by a doctor (Category C).
