Hexpark 2 Tablet

Generic Name: Trihexyphenidyl Hydrochloride

Strength: Available in 2 mg tablets.

Indications:

Hexpark is used to treat symptoms of:

• Parkinson's disease (including tremors, rigidity, and slow movement).
• Drug-induced extrapyramidal symptoms (movement disorders caused by certain medications).

Dosage and Administration:

Dosage should be individualized by a physician.

• Parkinson's Disease:
  • Initial dose is usually 1 mg on the first day, often taken at bedtime.
  • The dose is gradually increased by 2 mg increments at intervals of 3 to 5 days until a total daily dose of 6 to 10 mg is reached.
  • The total daily dose is usually divided and taken 3 or 4 times a day, preferably at mealtimes.
  • Some patients may require higher doses up to 12 to 15 mg per day.
• Drug-Induced Extrapyramidal Symptoms:
  • The usual dose is 5 to 15 mg per day, divided into several doses.
  • In some cases, even a lower dose of 1 mg per day may be sufficient.
• Hexpark tablets can be taken with or without food.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to trihexyphenidyl hydrochloride.
• Narrow-angle glaucoma.
• Myasthenia gravis.
• Gastrointestinal obstruction.
• Urinary retention due to prostatic hypertrophy or bladder neck obstruction.

Side Effects:

• Common: Dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, nausea, nervousness.
• Less Common: Constipation, drowsiness, difficulty urinating, increased heart rate.
• Rare: Confusion, agitation, hallucinations, memory impairment.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with hypertension, heart problems, liver or kidney disease.
• May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery due to blurred vision and dizziness.
• Avoid alcohol use as it can worsen side effects.
• Use with caution in elderly patients who may be more susceptible to anticholinergic side effects.
• Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, as interactions can occur.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus.
• Lactation: It is not known if trihexyphenidyl passes into breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administering to a nursing woman.

Storage:

• Store below 30°C.
• Protect from light and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children.
