Flurium 10
Presentation: Each tablet contains 10 mg of Flunarizine (as Flunarizine Dihydrochloride).
Indications: Flurium 10 is indicated for:
- Prophylactic treatment of migraine.
- Symptomatic treatment of vestibular vertigo (dizziness due to inner ear problems).
Dosage and Administration:
- Migraine Prophylaxis: The usual starting dose for adults is 10 mg once daily, usually taken at night. After 4-8 weeks of treatment, the maintenance dose may be reduced to 5 mg daily if the response is satisfactory. Treatment duration is usually limited to 6 months, after which the need for continued therapy should be reassessed.
- Vestibular Vertigo: The usual dose for adults is 10 mg once daily. The treatment duration depends on the severity and response to therapy.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include:
- Drowsiness
- Weight gain
- Increased appetite
- Fatigue
- Depression
Less common side effects may include:
- Extrapyramidal symptoms (such as slow movement, muscle stiffness, restlessness)
- Anxiety
- Dry mouth
- Constipation
- Gastric discomfort
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of depression, Parkinson's disease, or other extrapyramidal disorders.
- Use with caution in elderly patients due to an increased risk of side effects.
- Flurium 10 may cause drowsiness, so caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery.
- Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Flurium 10, as it may increase drowsiness.
- The safety of Flurium 10 during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been fully established. It is generally not recommended unless clearly needed and the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Consult your doctor before use.
