Flonaspray Max contains Fluticasone Propionate, a synthetic trifluorinated corticosteroid with potent local anti-inflammatory and vasoconstrictor activity. It reduces the number of inflammatory mediator cells (like mast cells, eosinophils, and leukocytes) directly at the epithelial level of the nasal mucosa, helping to control severe allergy symptoms. Each bottle provides 120 metered sprays.

📋 Indications Based on Dosage Strength

The treatment protocol changes depending on the specific strength prescribed:

• 50 mcg/spray: Indicated for the prevention (prophylaxis) and treatment of seasonal & perennial allergic rhinitis, as well as preventing nasal polyps from returning after surgery.
• 93 mcg/spray: Indicated specifically for the management of chronic rhinosinusitis with or without nasal polyps in adults.

To get the maximum therapeutic benefit, this medication must be used at regular intervals as its efficacy depends on consistent use.

1. For the 50 mcg/spray Strength

• Adults: The standard dose is 2 sprays in each nostril once daily (usually in the morning). If needed, it can be increased to 2 sprays in each nostril twice daily. Do not exceed a total daily dose of 200 mcg (4 sprays total).
• Children (4 to 11 years): The typical dose is 1 spray in each nostril once daily. It may be adjusted to 1 spray twice daily if required, but must not exceed 100 mcg (2 sprays total) per day.
• Children under 4 years: Safety and effectiveness have not been established.

2. For the 93 mcg/spray Strength

• Adults: Apply 1 or 2 sprays per nostril twice daily. The maximum daily limit is strictly capped at 2 sprays in each nostril twice daily, totaling a maximum dose of 744 mcg/day.

💧 Proper Administration & Cleaning Protocol

How to Use the Spray:

1. Shake the bottle gently and pull off the plastic dust cover.
2. Prime the Pump: If using the spray for the first time, or if it has been sitting unused for a week or more, pump it into the air a few times until a fine, moist mist appears.
3. Gently blow your nose to completely clear out your nostrils.
4. Close off one nostril with a finger, carefully insert the nasal applicator into the open nostril, and tilt your head forward slightly while keeping the bottle upright.
5. Firmly press down on the white collar of the applicator once to release the spray while breathing in smoothly through your nose.
6. Breathe out gently through your mouth, and repeat for any consecutive doses or for the other nostril.

Weekly Cleaning Instructions:

To prevent the nozzle from clogging, clean the spray at least once a week. Pull off the dust cover and gently remove the nasal applicator. Wash both pieces under warm running water, shake off the excess moisture, and let them dry naturally in a clean space—avoid applying extra heat (like a hairdryer). Once dry, push the applicator back onto the bottle stem and replace the dust cover.

⚠️ Safety Profile, Warnings & Side Effects

• Localized Side Effects: Because Flonaspray Max acts topically, very little is absorbed into the rest of the body. Common minor issues include drying of the nose and throat, an unpleasant taste or smell, and an increased incidence of mild nosebleeds (epistaxis).
• Long-term Systemic Risks: While systemic effects are minimal at recommended doses, exceeding the prescribed daily limits significantly increases the risk of rare, severe events like nasal septum perforation, wheezing, cataracts, glaucoma, or increased intraocular pressure.
• Contraindications: Do not use if you have a known hypersensitivity or allergy to Fluticasone Propionate or any of its inactive ingredients.

• Pregnancy: There are no adequate, well-controlled human studies. It should be used during pregnancy only if the therapeutic benefits to the mother clearly justify the potential risks to the developing fetus.
