Dystolic 2.5 Tablet contains Nebivolol Hydrochloride INN 2.725 mg, which is equivalent to Nebivolol 2.5 mg. 
It is manufactured by Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Dystolic (Nebivolol) is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure).

Pharmacology: Nebivolol is a beta-adrenergic receptor blocking agent. It differs from other beta-blockers due to its high selectivity for beta1-receptors and its nitric oxide (NO)-mediated vasodilatory effect. It lowers blood pressure and heart rate both at rest and during exercise.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose for hypertension in adults is 5 mg once daily. However, a lower starting dose of 2.5 mg once daily may be used in certain populations, such as the elderly (over 65 years) or patients with renal impairment (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min). The dose may be increased gradually at 2-week intervals as needed, up to a maximum of 40 mg once daily. Dystolic tablets can be taken with or without food.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Headache
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Diarrhea
• Nausea

Less common side effects can include slow heart rate (bradycardia), low blood pressure, cold extremities, and others.

Precautions: Caution should be exercised in patients with:

• Coronary artery disease (avoid abrupt discontinuation)
• Circulatory disorders
• First-degree heart block
• Diabetes (may mask hypoglycemia symptoms)
• Hyperthyroidism (may mask symptoms)
• Chronic obstructive pulmonary disorders
• Allergies
• Renal or hepatic impairment

Contraindications: Dystolic is contraindicated in patients with:

• Severe bradycardia
• Heart block greater than first degree
• Cardiogenic shock
• Decompensated cardiac failure
• Sick sinus syndrome (unless a permanent pacemaker is in place)  
• Severe hepatic impairment  
• Hypersensitivity to nebivolol
• Metabolic acidosis
• Bronchial asthma or a history of bronchospasm
• Untreated pheochromocytoma

Drug Interactions: Nebivolol can interact with other medications, including other beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers (verapamil, diltiazem), antiarrhythmics (amiodarone), CYP2D6 inhibitors (fluoxetine, paroxetine), and digoxin.

Pregnancy and Lactation: Dystolic is generally not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Storage: Store in a dry place below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
