Citalex 5 Tablet contains Escitalopram Oxalate equivalent to 5 mg of Escitalopram. It is manufactured by Opsonin Pharma Ltd.

Indications: Citalex is indicated for the treatment of:

• Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
• Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
• Panic Disorder with or without agoraphobia
• Social Anxiety Disorder (Social Phobia)
• Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Pharmacology: Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It works by increasing the levels of serotonin, a natural chemical messenger in the brain, which helps to improve mood and reduce anxiety.

Dosage and Administration: The usual starting dose for adults is 10 mg once daily. However, for Citalex 5 mg, the physician may prescribe it as an initial dose, especially in certain conditions like panic disorder or in elderly patients. The dose may be adjusted by your doctor based on your response and tolerability, up to a maximum of 20 mg daily. It is usually taken once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food.

Side Effects: Citalex is generally well-tolerated, but some common side effects may include:

• Insomnia (difficulty sleeping)
• Ejaculation disorder (in men)
• Somnolence (drowsiness)
• Increased sweating
• Fatigue
• Dry mouth

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions, especially liver or kidney problems, heart conditions, a history of seizures, or bipolar disorder.

Contraindications: Citalex is contraindicated in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to escitalopram or citalopram.
• Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing an MAOI.
• Concomitant use with pimozide.

Drug Interactions: Citalex can interact with several other medications. It's crucial to inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements, especially:
