Cevalin contains Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), an essential nutrient and antioxidant. It is a vital coenzyme required for numerous bodily functions. Since the body cannot produce it, Vitamin C must be obtained from diet or supplements. Cevalin is indicated for the prevention and treatment of scurvy, as well as for various other health benefits.

How Cevalin Works (Pharmacology)

Ascorbic Acid performs several key functions in the body:

Side Effects:

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• The drug is safe in normal doses during pregnancy, but a daily intake of 5g or more may cause fetal abortion.
• Mega-doses during pregnancy have resulted in scurvy in neonates. It is safe during lactation.

Precautions & Warnings:

• Mega-doses are contraindicated in patients with hyperoxaluria.
• Ascorbic acid can give false positive reactions in certain laboratory tests for glucose, uric acid, and blood.

Drug Interactions:

• Ascorbic acid enhances iron absorption and increases the half-life of paracetamol. It is incompatible in solution with several other drugs.
