Calreef- D

Presentation: Tablets containing Calcium Carbonate USP (from coral source) equivalent to elemental Calcium [Specify strength, e.g., 500 mg or 600 mg] and Vitamin D3 USP [Specify strength, e.g., 200 IU or 400 IU]. Also available as effervescent tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (from coral source) USP [Specify strength, e.g., 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg elemental Calcium] and Vitamin D3 [Specify strength, e.g., 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP].

Indications: Calreef-D is indicated for the treatment and prevention of calcium and Vitamin D deficiency. It is used in conditions such as:

• Osteoporosis and associated fractures.
• Osteomalacia.
• Tetany.
• Hypoparathyroidism.
• Disorders of osteogenesis.
• As a supplement in cases of inadequate calcium intake in childhood, rickets, pregnancy and lactation, and in elderly patients.
• Other indications include pancreatitis and as a phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage and Administration:

• Tablets: Usually one tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water, preferably with a full stomach to ensure better absorption, or as directed by the physician.
• Effervescent Tablets: Dissolve one effervescent tablet in a glass of water and drink orally. Stir the solution with a spoon before drinking. Best taken with a full stomach for better absorption.

The dosage may vary depending on the individual's condition and calcium/vitamin D requirements, as directed by a healthcare professional.

Side Effects: The most common side effects may include:

• Constipation
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Drowsiness
• Dry mouth

Rare side effects may include hypercalcaemia and hypercalciuria. Serious allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat are very rare.

Precautions: Calreef-D is contraindicated in patients with:

• High levels of calcium or Vitamin D in the blood.
• Kidney stones.
• Sarcoidosis.
• Allergy to any of the ingredients.

Caution should be taken in patients with a history of renal stones, and during long-term administration, regular monitoring of blood and urine calcium levels as well as kidney function may be required. Consult a physician if using other Calcium and Vitamin D preparations, having a previous history of kidney disorder, and certain lung diseases.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Keep the container tightly closed.
