Beconex

Presentation: Available as tablets, capsules, or syrup in various strengths and pack sizes. Manufactured by Renata Limited in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Contains a combination of B-complex vitamins, typically including Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), and Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3). Syrup formulations may contain additional B vitamins. Specific strengths are mentioned on the packaging. Some formulations like Beconex GX may contain additional minerals and amino acids.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of Vitamin B-complex deficiency states, which can manifest as beriberi, Wernicke's encephalopathy, loss of appetite, cheilosis, glossitis, angular stomatitis, keratitis, seborrheic dermatitis, pellagra, photophobia, peripheral neuritis, and corneal vascularization. Also used in conditions causing depletion or reduced absorption of B-complex vitamins and for general nutritional supplementation during physiologically stressful conditions.

Dosage & Administration:

  • Tablet/Capsule: Adults: Usually 1-2 tablets/capsules three times daily or as directed by a physician.
  • Syrup: Adults: 2-3 teaspoonfuls (10-15 ml) daily or as directed by a physician. Children: As directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated. Allergic and idiosyncratic reactions are possible, especially in previously sensitized individuals. Gastrointestinal intolerance has been reported with some vitamins at higher doses.

Precautions: Should be given cautiously to patients taking levodopa, as pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) can reduce its effectiveness. Hypersensitivity reactions, especially to thiamine, may occur.

Storage: Store below 25°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
