Ameloss M 7/10 Capsule

Ameloss M 7/10 is a medication that contains a combination of memantine hydrochloride and donepezil hydrochloride in an extended-release capsule. It is used for the treatment of moderate to severe dementia of the Alzheimer's type.

Composition:

Each Ameloss M 7/10 extended-release capsule contains:

• Memantine Hydrochloride (as extended-release pellets): 7 mg

• Donepezil Hydrochloride (as immediate-release pellets): 10 mg

Indications:

Ameloss M is indicated for patients with moderate to severe dementia of the Alzheimer's type who have been stabilized on 10 mg of donepezil hydrochloride once daily.

Pharmacology:

• Memantine: This component is an NMDA receptor antagonist. It is thought that excessive activation of NMDA receptors in the central nervous system by glutamate contributes to the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Memantine works by blocking these receptors, which may help to improve cognitive function.

• Donepezil: This component is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. In Alzheimer's disease, there is often a deficiency of cholinergic neurotransmission. Donepezil helps to increase the concentration of acetylcholine in the central nervous system by blocking its breakdown.

Dosage and Administration:

• The recommended starting dose of Ameloss M 7/10 is one capsule taken once daily in the evening.

• The dose may be increased gradually, but the minimum recommended interval between dose increases is one week.

• Ameloss M can be taken with or without food.

• The capsule should be swallowed whole or can be sprinkled on applesauce. It should not be divided, chewed, or crushed.
