Adagel Plus gel is indicated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 12 years of age and older.
Â
Adagel Plus combines Adapalene and Benzoyl peroxide. Adapalene works by binding to specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors, modulating cellular differentiation, keratinization, and inflammation, which helps to reduce microcomedone formation. Benzoyl peroxide is an oxidizing agent that has both antibacterial and keratolytic effects, which also helps to treat acne.
Â
Apply a thin film of the gel to the affected areas of the face and/or trunk once daily after washing. Use a pea-sized amount for each facial area, such as the forehead, chin, and each cheek. Avoid contact with the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes. This gel is for topical use only and should not be used orally, ophthalmically, or intravaginally.
The safety and effectiveness of this gel have not been established in children under the age of 12.
Â
Using other topical acne treatments at the same time should be done with caution, as it may lead to a cumulative irritant effect, especially with peeling or abrasive agents. No formal drug-drug interaction studies have been conducted.
Â
This product should not be used by individuals who are hypersensitive to any of its components.
Â
Common side effects include redness (erythema), scaling, dryness, and a stinging or burning sensation. The most frequently reported adverse events are dry skin, contact dermatitis, and irritation at the application site.
Â
There are no well-controlled studies on the use of this gel in pregnant women. Animal reproduction studies have not been conducted with this combination product. Therefore, it should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus. It is unknown if Adapalene or Benzoyl peroxide is excreted in human milk, so caution should be exercised when administering this product to a nursing woman.
Â
Avoid exposure to sunlight and sunlamps. When sun exposure is unavoidable, a sunscreen should be used.
Â
This medication is classified as a topical retinoid and related preparation.
Â
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep the tube tightly closed after use.
