Riboson (Riboflavin): A Key B Vitamin

Riboson contains Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), an easily absorbed, water-soluble micronutrient. It plays a key role in maintaining human health, supporting energy production, and various metabolic processes. Riboson is indicated for the prevention and treatment of Riboflavin deficiencies, which can manifest as cheilosis, angular stomatitis, glossitis, keratitis, and seborrhoeic dermatitis. It is a Vitamin-B preparation.

How Riboson Works (Pharmacology)

Riboflavin is a precursor to two essential cofactors:

  • Energy Production: Riboflavin is a precursor to flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). These cofactors are crucial for metabolizing fats, carbohydrates, and proteins to produce energy.
  • Antioxidant Activity: FAD is a cofactor for the enzyme glutathione reductase, which generates reduced glutathione. Reduced glutathione is a major antioxidant that protects against cellular damage.
  • Other Functions: It is also required for red blood cell formation and respiration, antibody production, and for regulating human growth and reproduction. It helps maintain healthy skin, nails, and hair, and is beneficial for various eye disorders.

Key Indications & Benefits

Riboson is indicated for:

  • Preventing and treating Riboflavin deficiencies, which can cause symptoms like cheilosis (cracked lips), angular stomatitis (cracks at the corners of the mouth), and glossitis (inflamed tongue).
  • Prevention of migraine headaches.
  • Prevention of cataracts.
